0% of our young ones who go to college remain witnesses
well .... there's the answer to the problem
higher education is the deathnell of witnessism
1- "jehovah does not want us to be rich".
other religions teach that god helps us to become prosperous.
jehovah does not do that.

we were unfortunate enough to be invited to spend some time with some of my jw relatives the other day.
my husbands jw relatives totally shun us but, my side of the family occassionally 'stoop' to allow us into their presence once in a while.
(a totally worthless occassion in which no 'real' conversation is permitted!).
I confronted a jw about certain wickedness done to my family, and all he could say was, "We're jehovahs witnesses !" - meaning "What we have done can't actually be very wrong" - even though the wickedness done was absolutely outrageous.
Arrogance in a braindead state doesn't really describe it.
<!-- .style1 {font-family: verdana} .style2 {font-size: 12px} .style3 {font-size: 12px; font-family: verdana; } .style4 {font-size: 16px} .style5 { font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; font-family: verdana; } .style7 {font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; } --> should you tell them the trutheven if it kills them?.
a family of witnesses that were good to me in the.
past was always strong in the truth.
An impetous for "telling" a jw involves the fact that it isn't a personal type of religion
One isn't a jw and keeps it to themselves - it is a fundamental requirement that they actively seek out potential victims
The question then becomes, "Should you leave them in peace even though they atempt to steal the lives of others"
( I must say that I'm continually amazed, after reading ex-jw stories, that potential victims don't rate a high in these threads).
Bit of a conundrum....................... being a jw is certainly punishment for being a jw.
was he married to his own mother?
q1) why should we accept divine discipline?.
does that mean if a jw married their ex-stepmother or ex-stepfather today, they would be dfd?.
As usual I don't get far reading this 'stuff' - they really do need English lessons - high school and all that
"Discipline" refers to chastisement, correction, instruction, and education.
well....disciplining (someone else) may be associated with those things
from the Latin.... disciplina..... is "instruction given to a disciple,"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They seem to get the "instruction" (for disciples) bit rather confused with the "chastising and correction"
..............and who are these new 'disciples' emulating anyway ?
im not trying to sound haughty or god-hating, i dont even know if i believe what i wrote but tell me what you guys think about this: how are we, as individuals and a species, to grow into what we want to become unless we are first burned by the fires of lesson?
how can we see our faults unless first we experience them, then, by contrast no longer live by them?
the harsh reality is that in order to overcome ignorance we must be first fooled by it so that we may be intimate with it.
Is religion dangerous and do we really NEED saving?
I suppose it's like a frying pan
depends on what you do with it really.....
do we need saving ? - well, probably from religion - wasn't that one of christ's targets
sorry if this has been discussed before.. also i haven't done a ton of research but was recently curious about the name bethel after by little bro asked me about it.. wts claims it means "house of god".
however, just from a few quick searches it has several meanings and connotations.
many are pagan in nature.
and Bethel will be reduced to nothing
....prophecy can be encouraging...
by the comments of the scrutinised and the ex-jws it is obvious that a person can see or figure the lies of jwism and then get themselves in very hot water simply by reiterating or repeating the "inconvenient" information that the org itself has provided - without any external input or external information or external scrutiny.. is that a fairly unique condition for such a group these days ?.
I should elaborate - are other groups so endangered and guarded in regard to their own literature ?
if a creator god is real and he is the source of life well then i would certainly acknowledge that and give him thanks for my existence and for the universe i live in.
but obedience?.
my mum and dad gave me life, ensured my education, looked after my health and wellbeing, loved me, taught me the value of kindness and friendships and so much more.
It's best for you spiritually to go along with the good in you (as long as there is) - that of you which isn't confusion - be who you are meant to be - as in "I am who I am"
some say 'be true to yourself'
I believe that's what it's about
disclaimer: this is a question purely about russell's bible teaching, not about his personal life, whether he was a freemason or whatever else.. ok, russell set himself up as a bible teacher, a lot of his theology was borrowed from groups such as the adventists and certain pyramidologists of his time, and i agree that a lot of his conclusions were plain crazy.
my question is this - was the movement he started simply another misguided christian denomination with genuine motives as opposed to what happened after rutherford took over and added all the dogmas?
does russell bear any of the blame for what the wbts has become?.
There appears a consensus that he wasn't full out and mean like the 'judge', but he was a false prophet - wasn't he ?
Did he run soup kitchens, or work on new ways to literally interpret old scriptures ?
I'm sure that there's both better and worse, and I can't see how he was a spiritual gift - apart from providing for a study in cult formation.
in another thread the question was put forward "what does it mean to celebrate christmas" .
i posted essentially this but recevied no further input - so my question is am i right - does it really boil down to decorations ?.
as far as i can tell decorations, a tree, wrapping paper and presents on christmas morning are what really separates others and jws, because other aspects of the holiday don't really seem different:.

It seems to be isolated to decorations, oh and of course your exclusivist attitude "heart condition" .
